Why 2023 Is The Year For Menswear

We can’t forget when Kim Jones left us speechless with his collection for the Mens’ Winter Dior Fashion Show back in 2022. Elevating streetwear with elegance. Adding details such as embellished mesh sweater vests, gemstone encrusted footwear, and paying homage to Diors’ original design of The Bar Suit also known as The New Look. Over the past few years, we have seen much enthusiasm for Menswear in a whole new way. J.W. Anderson, who is the Creative Director of Loewe, continues with his brilliant craftsmanship for Spring of 2023. With the continuation of surrealism while incorporating and or impersonating unconventional mediums, such as the illusion of grass accents on his pieces. He adds the innovation of taking, something that he aspires to do in each of his collections, “a fusion of the organic and the fabricated.” A playful theme was the driving force behind Y/Project  Menswear Spring 2023. “We always try to invite our customers to enjoy the garments and play with them.” Says designer Glenn Martens.

As we see more and more attention get brought to Menswear. We see designers are transforming collections to a whole new level. The continuation of the breath of fresh air is revamping and bringing much excitement for the day-to-day consumer. But this is also much to the credit of designers as well. In recent fashion years we’ve seen how the power of escapism through fashion has become more powerful. Surrealism has become very much in vogue itself. Many designers are being optimistic. Using the platform of fashion in confidence of seeing a more hopeful version, not just themselves, but in all of us as well.
